Self-Isolation – Some Inspiration for your Home
Under the existing Government Regulations, the 4homes showroom is currently closed and the staff are in self-isolation in their respective homes.
Either you are in self-isolation too, dreaming of updating those 4 walls you have been staring at or you’re working all hours dreaming of spending more time in the home you love. Eitherway we’ve put together a few ideas to get you thinking, planning and doing some easy updates to the place you call home.
While finances may well be of concern to many at the moment, here are a few things you can do that are cheap or free to do!
British Summer Time has begun and as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer (hopefully!) and if you’re in self-isolation, it’s the perfect time to Spring Clean your home.
Clean your windows, clean your shower seals, take all those books down from the shelf and dust behind.
Get into all your nooks and crannies and work out what all those vacuum cleaner nozzles do! It’s a great way to say goodbye to winter while keeping your home healthy and hygienic.
Clear Out & Tidy Up
While you’re cleaning it’s the ideal time to have a tidy and a clear out. Clear out the clothes you no longer wear and bag them up ready for the charity shop (when they re-open).
Books, DVDs and other items you no longer need can be sold online or put in a box ready to take to the charity shop or car boot sale. You might even make a few quid that can be put towards a tin of paint or new funky lamp.
Change it up!
I appreciate this may not be possible in every house but if you can, change round your rooms. Move round the sofa, re-locate that armchair to the bedroom or move that console table from the hall and add a lamp. A change of perspective can really lift your mood.
Planning for Future Projects after Self-Isolation
If you’re hoping for more of a drastic change in the future, such as a new bathroom, kitchen or renovation, there are a few things you can be doing now to plan for when you’re ready to go.
Make a list & do some research
I love a list and find any excuse to write one. Work your way round your house and make a note of anything you would like to change or update.
Do some research from the comfort of your own sofa. Read through magazines or go online to check out Instagram, Pinterest and Interior Design blogs. Find which styles you like and get some colour inspiration.
Create a Moodboard, scrapbook or Pinterest board with all your favourite finds.
Maybe you’ve realised that your kitchen just doesn’t have enough storage. Or, maybe you’ve been thinking about a new kitchen for a ehile. If so, check out our previous blog post series New Year, New Kitchen 1-5. Here we offer some advice on where to start and what to think about.
Get ready to go!
You can even contact your local showroom who will give you a call once they’re up and open again to arrange a consultation, or just to get some advice.
If you are in the East Devon Area and you are planning a kitchen, bathroom or bedroom project, 4homes would love to hear from you. We’ll add you to our list of contacts and call you to arrange a consultation as soon as we’re back. It’s a great way to get the ball rolling and get a foot in the door before everyone else!
