2023 is a celebratory year at 4homes – we’ve been established for 40 years and continue to grow.
Founded way back in 1983 by Pat & Alan Parrish we originally opened as a retail store based on the corner of Mill Street selling tiles, pine furniture and kitchens under the name of Tile & Pine shop. By 1986 the High Street premises had been purchased and following extensive renovation work to convert the building from it’s previous businesses of photographic studio, dress makers workshop and butchers resulted in the further expansion in sales of pine furniture, home accessories and gifts.
Fast forward to 2001 and more building work at the rear of the High Street premises saw a large kitchen showroom developed on the ground floor with two residential flats above. In 2002 Mike & Sally Parrish joined the family business and helped to grow and focus the business on kitchens & bedrooms along side the tile and flooring business.
Throughout the early 2000’s the business moved increasingly towards the home interiors market with a reduction of sales in home accessories and giftware and an ever increasing expansion of the design and installation of kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. By 2012, with the lease on the Mill Street premises up for renewal, it was decided to relocation the tile and flooring department into the rear of the High Street building and expand the kitchen and bedroom studio out into the main body of the showroom. This expansion of the home interior design studio has continued through to the present day with the addition of bathrooms and home studies to the displays on show in the 12-14 High Street premises.
In late 2022, the Parrish family moved the ownership of the company from privately held to an Employee Ownership model – thus enabling all of the employees to have a stake in the future success of the business. Looking forward – the team at 4homes expects the continued growth and focus on home interior design and installation to continue.
