Predictions for Tile Trends in 2017

Tile Trends 2017

We’re still only part way into 2017 and already we are starting to see an emergence of new tile trends. In these times of change and uncertainty it appears that tile hunters are veering towards alternative tiles for their homes. With thanks to social sharing platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest our interiors are becoming more design-led than ever.

Large format tiles

Here are the 4homes predictions of what is going to be big in the world of tiles for 2017.

Large Format Tiles

What we do think are going to be big, literally, are big tiles! Large format tiles from 600mm to 1000mm have seen a marked increase in demand and production. Either porcelain or ceramic, with less grout lines these large format tiles cover a greater expanse offering a clean, spacious look and therefore particularly suit modern contemporary spaces.large format tiles

While it is possible to continue the large format tiles onto the walls you must bear in mind that walls have a maximum weight they can withstand and this will need to be checked before fitting.

Parquet & Chevron Tiles

We’ve recently seen an increase in popularity of chevron, herringbone and parquet styles of Engineered Wood and Luxury Vinyl flooring and this has now expanded into tiles. Smaller versions of the wood effect tiles laid chevron style look great in a hallway or kitchen area as do brick effect designs. Yes they will take longer to lay than a larger tile but the result is a stunning and timeless look that will last for years to come.

Gloss Wood Effect Tiles

Wood effect tiles have been with us for some time and whether they are long, short, rustic, smooth or textured they add style and warmth to any space. The new kids on the block however are glossy wood effect tiles. Perfect for kitchens & hallways, floors or walls, these luxuriously stunning tiles will certainly add style and impact to your home.

Patterned & Colourful Tiles

While a minimalist theme looks great in many homes we have noticed an upsurge in the desire for colour and pattern in tiles. Whether on the wall or floor, colourful patterns add warmth and a sense of individuality. A bathroom with plain walls and furniture can be lifted by a patterned tile on the floor, creating an alternative focus to the room. Patterned tiles also look great in a welcoming hallway, quirky kitchen or to add coolness to your conservatory.patterned tiles

More Metro Tiles

The rise and rise in popularity of metro tiles sees no end in sight. Metros seem to be the go-to tile for the majority of kitchen tiling and as they are available in nearly every imaginable colour they are a great choice. What is changing is the way the tiles are being fitted. With new styles of herringbone, vertical, stacked or even basketweave shapes people are becoming much more inventive with their designs. Whether white or coloured metros these styles will add interest and bring the classic look right up to date.
